Vision mapping is a powerful tool I’ve learned throughout my coaching certification program, which has helped me and my clients to approach goal-setting and personal development differently. It’s not just about planning; it’s about stepping into a version of ourselves that we once thought was out of reach. By incorporating new beliefs, characteristics and goals into our system, we can transform our next season and beyond.
What is Vision Mapping?
Vision mapping is the process of creating a visual representation of your goals and the steps needed to achieve them. It involves defining clear, specific, and often scary and exciting goals that push you out of your comfort zone. This method encourages you to stretch your reality and envision the highest version of yourself. Are you ready?? 🦋
The Power of Internal Representations
The key to successful vision mapping lies in the beliefs you hold and internal programs you are running. Your current beliefs, emotions, memories, meta concepts, presuppositions… (aka. filters) shape your state and behaviors, ultimately, your results. By consciously adopting new, empowering beliefs, you can rewire your mindset to support your ambitious goals. The two ways of shifting your external world is by changing internally, by repetition and/or emotionally charged event. This shift is crucial for stepping into your higher self and making your vision a reality in the next 3 months.
Steps to Vision Mapping
- Define Your Goal Wishlist: Start by imagining your ideal future. Anything is possible. 10 minutes, free writing. No pause needed. Get yourself into a state in which you’re undisturbed. Categorize your goals into Business/ career goals, Health & Fitness goals, Lifestyle and Relationship Goals, and Persona/ Behavioral Goals.
- Set Scary and Exciting Goals: For 5 minutes, go back through your notes, and identify at least 5 goals per category that challenge you and ignite your passion. These goals should feel a bit intimidating but also thrilling, pushing you to grow and expand.
- Identify Characteristics: Re-visit your categories for 5 minutes and identify all characteristics you’d need to embody in order to achieve those goals.
- Adopt New Beliefs: Re-visit your categories for 5 minutes and identify at least 10 beliefs you need to be believing in order to achieve those goals. For example: “I am capable and deserving of success.” “I knew I can do it”…
- Create a Visual Map: Use images, words, and symbols to create a vision board or map that represents your goals and new beliefs. Place it somewhere you’ll see it daily, like as a phone wallpaper (or let those images shuffle every hour).
- Review and Adjust: Regularly (ideally daily) review your vision map and adjust as needed. Celebrate your progress and refine your goals and beliefs as you grow.
Transforming Your Next Quarter
By incorporating vision mapping into your routine, you can transform your next quarter in profound ways. This practice helps you stay focused, motivated, and aligned with your higher self. You start embodying that person more and more so that you will, as a natural result, take consistent and aligned action towards your scary and exciting goals. You’ll find yourself achieving things you once thought impossible within only 3 months. Trust me!
